Accessorial Service

a service rendered by a carrier in addition to normal door-to-door service, i.e., storage, etc.

Airway bill

(awb) a contract for air transportation and receipt of goods shipped; covers movement by an air carrier or air forwarder.

American-flag Carrier

an air or sea transportation common carrier involved in international transportation movements, which operates under a certificate of public convenience and necessity, and is approved for service by the President of the United States

Appliance Service

The cost incurred in preparing major appliances for safe transportation.

Arrival Notice

a notice, furnished to consignee, or arrival of freight

Assessed Value

The amount of much money you pay per $1000 of assessed value to cover your household items to their fully assessed value.

Auxillary Service

A service provided when a shipment cannot be serviced, picked up or delivered by a road van, and a smaller unit must be employed for movement to or from the road van. Also called Shuttle Service.

Banding

material used to wrap the exterior of the shipment to hold it in place

the place where a ship lies when at anchor or at a wharf

The contract between the mover and you (shipper / customer) for the transportation of your household or business goods. Also known as BL.
