Cargo

the contents of a shipment; the loading of a vessel, car, or vehicle

Carriage

The movement of goods by a carrier

Carrier

an individual, partnership, or corporation which operates equipment engaged in the business of transporting goods

Carrier Liability

The financial liability for loss or damage of goods based on the value placed on the goods

Carrier Packed

Cartons packed by the moving company.

Cartage

the transferring of goods by trucks, wagons, drays, etc.

Cartman

Someone who transports goods within the confines of a port.

Cash on Delivery (COD)

A shipment that is paid for by the individual at the time of delivery prior to the unloading of the shipment. Also called Collect on Delivery.

Certificate of Title

A statement issued by a state government verifying ownership and acknowledging liens placed upon any automobile, truck, tractor or other conveyance.

Certificate of Weight

An authoritative statement of the weight of a shipment prepared by a weigh master

Certificates of Origin

documents which specify the country of origin, number or packages, number of boxes or cases, marks and number, gross and net weight, and a description of the goods in the shipment

Certified Scale

Any scale designed for weighing motor vehicles, including trailers or semi trailers not attached to a tractor, and certified by an authorized scale inspection and licensing authority. A certified scale may also be a platform or warehouse type scale that is properly inspected and certified.

Class Rates

charges for broad groupings of similar commodities which will apply on all items moving from all origins to all destination

Clearance

a certificate issued by Customs stating that the shipment is free to move and that all legal requirements have been met
